An interview with Andy

We're really lucky to have had Andy Knight joining us at the beginning of October, as Technical Manager. And we're even luckier that he found time to answer some of our questions so you can all meet him too!
What did you do before joining Prodigy?
Before joining Prodigy, I served as the Vice President of Global Technology for an upstart Managed Services Provider serving the hospitality sector. I was employed by Sixstar to design and build the companies' technical standards and solutions taking advantage of my 14 years’ experience in the sector. Sixstar was born out of the desire to provide a new level of customer support to its customers and in the 2 years since its inception the company quickly expanded with a customer base across North America, Europe and Singapore.
What made you want to work with us?
Following the success of Sixstar I decided to seek a new challenge and explore opportunities within different sectors, the pressures of hospitality and it’s 24/7/365 nature led me to seek a role which allowed me more time for my family. Having previously conversed with Aden, I shared an interest in Prodigy for a number of years so when the business approached me about a new opportunity it seemed a perfect time to make that move.
How has your first week been?
Whilst there are commonalities between my previous businesses and Prodigy, I have been impressed by the team and their drive to respond to customers in a timely and efficient manner. My first few days with the business have seen me juggle learning key services and responsibilities while trying to maintain that level of responsiveness.
We have a fabulous team which I already feel part of, and I'm excited about the drive and enthusiasm of the company.
What's the best thing about working here so far?
I think the best thing about working with Prodigy are the team. As a company, Prodigy go over and above to make every one of its team members welcome and at home. With many of the team working remotely we have regular staff meetings and social events that afford us the time to share ideas
What do you like doing when you take your Technical Manager hat off?
One of the driving factors for my move to Prodigy was to spend more time with my family and my daughter who is 5 next week and when I do break free from them I enjoy mountain biking across Exmoor and the Quantocks, both of which I’m fortunate to have right on my doorstep. Mountain biking affords the opportunity to release the stress of daily life and get the adrenaline pumping, I have been known to hit a few trees though!
Any final thoughts?
Prodigy is a really exciting opportunity for me personally. I feel empowered to bring forward my ideas and develop both the business and the service it provides its customers. No one knows what the future holds, but I aspire to a long and successful future with Prodigy
