A comprehensive small business guide to VoIP

 

The purpose of this role is to carry out technical support, installations, and project work for both business and home customers.

This is a brilliant opportunity for a field-based support engineer to exercise a range of skills in a varied role where no two days are the same. The role will predominantly involve onsite technical support, installations, and project work, however will also include remote and in-house builds and repairs, and and also proactive technical audits - so a keen eye for detail is essential!

Core hours:                   Mon-Fri, 8:45am to 5:30pm
Location:                       Head Office Blandford Forum
Company Meetings:   1st Wednesday of each month, 6pm to 9pm
Holiday:                         24 days plus Bank Holidays
Perks:                             Additional 6 days holiday, through 12 x half day Fridays                                            per annum / Company Van / Company Laptop


You will be joining an award-winning (Best Place to Work) MSP, with a very forward-thinking approach. We are a small but ambitious growing company and will involve mostly supporting business customers, but will include some home support to a handful of customers. 

We have a well-structured team with points of escalation and a great working atmosphere. External and in-house training will be offered, including MS certification and other professional development. 

For the right person, the natural progression of this role would be to move into a 3rd line role which would involve more project-based and complex installs. The role will report to the Service Delivery Manager, who on a day-to-day basis will provide great support and guidance.

You will be joining an existing team of two onsite engineers, serving clients who are typically within a 1.5 hour radius of Blandford Forum, Dorset.

The ideal candidate will have experience in the following areas:

  • Previous experience supporting small-medium sized businesses
  • Experience within Windows Server 2003, 2008, 2011, 2012 and 2016 environments
  • Hyper-V / VM Ware
  • Hosted / Cloud emails, backups, desktop solutions
  • MS Exchange 2003/ 2007/ 2010/ 2016 (Hosted/ Local Exchange)
  • Terminal Service / Remote Desktop services
  • LAN / TCPIP / DHCP / DNS / Firewalls / VPNs / WiFi / Cisco Meraki / Draytek
  • Windows XP / Vista / 7 / 8 / 10 & MS Office range
  • General software, Sage Accounts, Antivirus, Backup tools
  • VoIP Systems

What does this person look like?

The ideal candidate will be a natural problem solver, and have high attention to detail with excellent customer service skills. They will have great time management, and will be able to prioritise - working well under pressure. The ability to multi-task and deliver on time, are also essential.
